BOARD OF SELECTMEN
SPECIAL MEETING SEPT. 28, 2006
TOWN OFFICE BUILDING 5:00 P.M.
First Selectman Eldredge called the meeting to order at 5:03 P.M. with the following in attendance: Selectmen Patton and Lewis, L. Nicholls and residents.
PUBLIC WORKS
Bills were presented and signed. Selectman Patton asked Lynn did you find out if we saved any money on the electricity at Public Works? Lynn commented her secretary is handling that. Selectman Patton commented I think the drainage ditch on Michalec Road needs guardrails. Lynn commented she knows the area and agrees.
Lynn gave the board the 3 prices she received for sand: Becker $14.75, Knight $14.00 and Partlow $11.75, all are sand delivered. Lynn commented she will make sure it is weighed and measured. Selectman Patton recused himself.
FIRST SELECTMAN ELDREDGE MOVED TO PURCHASE WINTER SAND FROM PARTLOW AT $11.75 DELIVERED.
Selectman Lewis seconded the motion.
VOTE: 2 YES (ELDREDGE & LEWIS) 0 NO
Discussion followed about the abandoned boat and trailer found on Polster. The owner had it in front of his house for free. Anyone could have taken it and then abandoned it. The owner will be asked if he wants it and if not it will be trashed. Discussion on giving of receipts at the Transfer Station followed. A better effort will be made to give out receipts. The Town was charged $20.00 for two tires that were found in the bulky waste container. A closer eye must be kept on what is disposed of in the dumpsters. Lynn commented when trailers dump into the dumpster we can’t know what is in there. Some dumpsters are more than 3 yards. It was agreed that the Transfer Station employees will be reminded about receipts and watching the dumpsters. Selectman
Patton commented since Willimantic Waste is taking construction debris there should we look at our policy, revisit our bulky waste policy. If you have a dump truck you could go to Willimantic Waste. First Selectman Eldredge commented they need to check the bulky waste permits. Discussion on permits followed.
Lynn commented we are working on the roofs, the oil shed is done and the salt shed is almost done. Next week we will have Hipsky’s triaxel and do the rest of Moose Meadow and part of Daleville Roads. Wednesday we start sweeping the roads. First Selectman Eldredge commented there is a small job to fix sidewalks at Center School, I was wondering if the people doing Hall School sidewalks would look at it. First Selectman Eldredge will call Ron Strong and ask him to bring that company up to look at Center School. Selectman Patton commented we are still waiting for the Dog Warden’s van.
SELECTMAN LEWIS MOVED TO ADJOURN THE MEETING AT 5:41 P.M.
First Selectman Eldredge seconded the motion.
VOTE: 3 YES (ELDREDGE, PATTON & LEWIS ) 0 NO
